However, before that, on Friday (November 28) evening, a total of 11 hardcore Naxals of Dareksa Dalam, including the spokesperson of the Special Regional Committee, Anant, surrendered before the Gondia police.
This Dalam was operating in the Abujmad jungle area of ??Chhattisgarh and its influence was also on the Gadchiroli-Gondiya border of Maharashtra. Police sources say that the surrender took place due to the pressure created by the death of Naxal leader Hidma and the continuous operations of the security forces.
Among those who surrendered are Anant, the Dalam commander, platoon commander and other important members. A large quantity of arms, ammunition and explosives have been seized from them. The Gondia Superintendent of Police said that these Naxalites are ready to come into the mainstream due to the surrender policy of the Maharashtra government and the promise of rehabilitation.
This surrender has dealt a major blow to the Naxal movement on the Maharashtra-Chhattisgarh border and is said to have created an atmosphere of panic in some other groups.
