Approval for doubling of Neemuch-Ratlam railway line
- The total cost of the project is Rs. 1,184.67 crore
Delhi, Dec 29: The doubling of Neemuch-Ratlam railway line has been approved. The total estimated cost of the project will be Rs. 1,095.88 crore and its increased / completion cost is Rs. 1,184.67 crore. The total length of the doubling line is 132.92 km. This project will be completed in four years.
The line capacity utilization of Neemuch-Ratlam section with maintenance blocks is up to 145.6%. The project route section has become more saturated than optimal capacity even without maintenance block. The main incoming freight for the captive power plants of cement companies is coal. Due to the availability of huge reserves of cement grade limestone in the Neemuch-Chittorgarh area, the arrival of new cement industries will further increase the traffic on the section.
Doubling of Neemuch-Ratlam section will increase the capacity of the section. Thus, more freight and passenger trains can be introduced on the system. Due to the proximity of cement industries, additional freight is expected to be 5.67 million tonnes per annum from the first year which will increase to 9.45 million tonnes per annum in the 11th year.
