Awarded National Service Scheme Award to two students from Maharashtra


New Delhi: Maharashtra students Manoj Gunjal and Sapna Babar have been honored with the National Service Scheme Award by President Ramnath Kovind for their outstanding contribution through the television system.

 
Pvt. Manoj Gunjal, a student of Ramakrishna More Arts, Commerce and Science College and Sapna Babar, a student of LRT Commerce College, Akola were honored with the National Service Scheme Outstanding Volunteer Award.
On behalf of the Union Ministry of Youth Welfare and Sports, on the occasion of National Service Scheme Establishment Day, ‘Rashtriya Seva Yojana Puraskar 2019-20’ was distributed through television system on the background of Kovid 19 contagion. The event was attended by the President from Rashtrapati Bhavan and from Sushma Swaraj Bhavan by Youth Welfare and Sports Minister Anurag Singh Thakur, Minister of State Nisith Pramanik, Youth Welfare Secretary Usha Sharma and Sports Secretary Ravi Mittal.
Program Coordinators, Program Officers and students of the National Service Scheme from different parts of the country were honored in three categories for outstanding contributions. A total of 42 awards were presented at this occasion. Manoj Gunjal from Pune and Sapna Babar from Akola were also honored in the category of Best Volunteers of the National Service Scheme.
Manoj Gunjal has made significant contribution by actively participating in programs and activities like water conservation, greenery, organ donation, adult literacy, Ujjwala Yojana, blood donation, tree planting etc. Manoj Munjal also played an important role in organizing the winter session on disaster management.
Sapna Babar has done a remarkable job of increasing public active participation in soft skill development, tobacco free campaigns and road safety awareness programs. The slum dwellers have been encouraged to participate in various public utility activities as well as active participation in AIDS awareness rallies.
