BJP MLA's threat in Kalmeshwar: "If you do more, we will cut you off!"
Nagpur, November 28, 2025 - A controversial video has gone viral during the election campaign for Kalmeshwar Municipal Council in Nagpur district of Vidarbha. BJP MLA Ashish Deshmukh is accused of openly threatening the opposition in a meeting, and this matter has heated up the political atmosphere. In the video, Deshmukh says, "If you do more, we will cut you off!" He uses sharp language, which has drawn sharp criticism from Congress and other opposition parties.
The BJP has started a vigorous campaign for the upcoming Kalmeshwar Municipal Council elections, and MLA Ashish Deshmukh is active as a prominent leader in this area. Addressing the campaigners at a meeting held on Wednesday (November 27), Deshmukh warned, "Some people are harassing our workers. If there is more, we will cut them off." The video has spread rapidly on social media and has now become a political weapon. Deshmukh, however, has clarified that this statement was made "out of the enthusiasm of the campaign" and that it was an "exaggeration".
Congress leader and former MLA Nitin Raut expressed strong displeasure over this matter. He said, "Making such a threat is anti-democratic. The MLA should apologize and we will file a complaint with the police." Similarly, Nationalist Congress Party (Sharad Pawar faction) leader Jiteshwar Deshmukh has also condemned this statement and raised the question, "Are BJP leaders now encouraging violence?".
The Kalmeshwar Municipal Council election is considered an important election in Nagpur district, in which the BJP currently has a majority. However, this video has given the opposition an issue and there is a possibility of a change in the election strategy. Although the local police have started investigating the matter, no action has been taken yet.
