Corona will support artists and organizations in the background *



Mumbai, Dec 13: Corona has caused financial turmoil for various artists in the field of culture and art. The decision to provide financial assistance to them was taken at a cabinet meeting. The meeting was chaired by Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray.


The lockdown was imposed across the country, including the state, due to the outbreak of the corona virus in the country. Also, after the lockdown was relaxed, due to the ban on organizing cultural events, theaters, cinemas, and artists from various organized and unorganized art forms in the field of experimental art, whose only means of livelihood is to present cultural programs and art, The demand for financial assistance was under consideration by the government. In view of this demand, the Cabinet has sanctioned financial assistance of Rs. 28 crore to 56,000 solo artists in the state for Rs. 5,000 per artist and Rs. 6 crore to 847 institutes in the field of experimental arts. The Cabinet also approved an administrative expenditure of Rs. 1 crore for the selection process of local folk artists.


These artists will be selected in the prescribed manner by inviting applications through advertisements in newspapers and other media. The Collector level committee will select the artists for the selection of solo artists. Institutions will be selected by a committee at the level of Directorate of Cultural Affairs, Mumbai. The amount will be deposited in the bank account of the eligible artist through the Director, Cultural Affairs.
