Criticism of Sanjay Raut after Center rejects affidavit in Pegasus case

New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Monday passed an interim order in the case after the Center refused to file a detailed affidavit alleging that it had used Israeli "Pegasus spyware" to monitor citizens for national security reasons. An interim order will be issued on petitions seeking an independent inquiry into alleged surveillance of political leaders, journalists and other key figures by Pegasus Spyware, the Supreme Court said in a hearing on Monday. Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut has now commented on it.

The country's journalists, politicians, chief ministers and ministers were monitored by Pegasus. The Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha could not function on the issue of Pegasus. If the government says what is the question of national security, it will add to the knowledge of our country. If the government is not even willing to listen to the Supreme Court, then what kind of national security is happening in this country? We will all come together and discuss it again, said Sanjay Raut.
The apex court on Monday passed an interim order in the case after the central government refused to file an affidavit for national security reasons. We are retaining orders. An interim order will be issued in this case. It will take two to three days. Explain whether you are going to file a detailed affidavit. If the government reconsiders giving a detailed affidavit, the matter will be heard, said Chief Justice N.S. V. Raman explained.
The Supreme Court on Monday clarified the filing of the affidavit. The central government has been accused of illegally using Pegasus spyware to monitor citizens. So all we wanted to know was whether the Center did that or not. A bench headed by Chief Justice Raman comprising Justice Suryakant and Justice Hima Kohli said it did not want information on national security issues.
