Curiosity over NDA's decision after Bihar elections; Vinod Tawde's important statement

Patna/New Delhi, November 14, 2025: There is great suspense over who will be given the chief minister's post in the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) after the Bihar assembly elections. Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) National General Secretary Vinod Tawde has made an important statement in this regard, which has sparked discussions in political circles. Tawde clarified that, "We fought the Bihar elections under the leadership of Nitish Kumar. However, now all five parties will sit together and decide who will be the chief minister."
Although the NDA has won a landslide victory in Bihar, it is understood that there has been a difference of opinion among the constituent parties in the NDA on whether to re-instate Janata Dal (United) leader Nitish Kumar as the chief minister. Before the elections, the NDA had contested the elections under Nitish Kumar and campaigned under his leadership. However, now that some BJP leaders are giving different suggestions after the victory, the question has arisen as to whether the unity of the NDA will survive.
Vinod Tawde further said, "NDA is like a family alliance. We worked together under the leadership of Nitish Kumar in the elections. Now, all our five allies – BJP, JD(U), Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas), Hindustani Awam Morcha and Rashtriya Lok Morcha – will discuss and take a unanimous decision to form the government." Although Tawde's statement emphasizes the internal coordination of the NDA, it seems to have raised a question mark over Nitish Kumar's chief ministerial post.
According to political analysts in Bihar, there is talk that some party leaders want their own chief minister since BJP has the highest number of seats. In the last few months, there were reports of tension between Nitish Kumar and the BJP. Notably, the NDA had performed well in Bihar in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, but it is being said that Nitish Kumar's position has weakened due to the loss of JD(U) seats in the assembly.
On the other hand, JD(U) leaders have demanded that Nitish Kumar be made the Chief Minister. A senior JD(U) leader said, "Nitishji has given stability to Bihar. The NDA won the elections under his leadership, so he should get a chance." However, BJP sources said that all options will be discussed in the all-party meeting and no one person will be insisted on keeping it.
The date of this NDA meeting has not been fixed yet, but it is understood that a meeting of all leaders will be held in Patna soon. In this meeting, along with the Chief Minister's post, a decision will also be taken on the distribution of portfolios in the cabinet. Nitish Kumar is known as 'Chanakya' in Bihar politics and has shown the art of changing parties many times to stay in power. However, this time the equations in the NDA may prove challenging for him.
The people of the state are also curious about this suspense. A local citizen said, "Nitishji has done a good job, but the BJP has a majority, so we have to see what will happen." On the other hand, the opposition grand alliance, while criticizing this internal dispute within the NDA, has said, "NDA's unity was only for elections, now the fight for power has started." Overall, this decision of the NDA has taken a new turn in Bihar politics. Everyone's attention is on whether Nitish Kumar will become the Chief Minister again or a new face of the BJP will come forward. It is expected that this suspense will end in the meeting to be held in the next few days.
