Delhi blast case: 3BHK flat rented on pretext of storing 'Kashmiri fruits'; Dr. Muzammil's inside story of hiding explosives revealed
Delhi, November 27, 2025: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has come into possession of important information in the investigation of the blast case near Red Fort. The main accused Dr. Muzammil Shakeel had used two hideouts in Faridabad. On the pretext of storing 'Kashmiri fruits', he had rented a 3BHK flat from a former sarpanch. It has been revealed that explosive materials were hidden in this flat.
Role of the main accused and fraud
The main accused Dr. Muzammil Shakeel is currently in the custody of the NIA. He rented this 3BHK flat from a former sarpanch in Faridabad for a monthly rent of Rs 8,000. He obtained this rent by falsely claiming that the fruits would be used for business. When the NIA took Muzammil to his place in Faridabad on Monday night, the former sarpanch identified him. Muzammil had used this flat from April to July 2025. He was accompanied by the arrested accused Dr. Shaheen Shahid, whom he had introduced as a family member.
Muzammil had also rented another house in Khori Jamalpur area near Al Falah University in Faridabad. This house had rooms on the upper floor of a plastic raw material factory. This transaction took place at the house of former sarpanch Jumma. Muzammil said that he would start a business importing fruits from Kashmir and selling them in the local market. However, within two months, he left the house due to high temperature. Jumma met Muzammil and Umar Nabi when his nephew was undergoing cancer treatment at Al Falah Hospital. Even after his nephew died in July, Muzammil used to visit Jumma’s office often.
Plan to hide explosives and involvement of locals
The investigation revealed that Muzammil had hidden explosives in the field of farmer Badru near Al Falah University. The crates containing ammonium nitrate were kept in a room in the field. The material remained there for 12 days. Badru used to offer prayers in a mosque near the field and that is where he met Muzammil. Muzammil requested to keep the chemicals and Imam Ishtiaq helped in this. However, Badru asked to remove the material fearing theft by the villagers. After that, these 2,540 kg of explosives were shifted to Ishtiaq's old house in Taga, Fatehpur. The NIA believes that these explosives were used in the Red Fort blast in Delhi.
Next steps in the investigation
When the NIA took Muzammil to all these places, the locals identified him. It also came to light that Dr. Shaheen Shahid was Muzammil's colleague. She is under arrest. In this case, it is known so far that Muzammil hid the explosives by gaining the trust of the locals. Investigation is on and efforts are on to find more accused. This secret was revealed in a joint investigation by Delhi Police and NIA.
This incident has raised questions on the security arrangements. It seems that terrorist activities are being hidden under the guise of fruit business in Kashmir. For more information, we will have to wait for the official statement of the NIA.
