Financial aid for hurricane-hit fishermen coming soon - Vijay Vadettiwar

MUMBAI: Disaster Management, Relief and Rehabilitation Minister Vijay Vadettiwar has said that the criteria for financial assistance for cyclone-affected fishermen affected by the cyclone will be clarified and a unanimous decision will be taken.
A meeting was held in the hall of the ministry to change the criteria for financial assistance to the fishermen affected by the cyclone. Relief and Rehabilitation Minister Vadettiwar said the decision would be taken in consultation with the bank regarding the damage caused to the fishermen by the cyclone. Orders have also been issued to the concerned department to take immediate action for immediate distribution of the amount sanctioned by the government to the affected fishermen. Earlier, during the cyclone, the government made radical changes in the old decisions and increased the aid given to the disaster victims.
The state government had sent a proposal of Rs 1,040 crore to the central government for the victims of the cyclone. The central government has provided only Rs 268 crore while the state government has provided Rs 780 crore to the disaster victims. "The government is positive about the fishermen and the decision will be taken unanimously on their demands," Vadettivar said.

The government will take positive action on all the issues raised by the fishermen. Even during the time of nature cyclone, the government has changed many rules to help the storm victims. In the same way, the government is positive about providing assistance to the fishermen affected by the cyclone, said Industry Minister Subhash Desai.
The Maharashtra Fishermen's Action Committee informed the fishermen about the damage caused by the storm. Various demands were made that the increased assistance should be given in cash or through a scheme, and also to help small fish traders who are drying fish.
