Forest department raid, 7 parrots, two turtles seized

Nagpur dt. Forest officials raided Kapilnagar. During the raid, 7 parrots and 3 turtles were seized.

 Bhatkar (Honorary Wildlife Ranger Nagpur), Ashish Ninave and colleagues carried out the raid. During the raid, Aditya Gangadhar Patil (Kapil Nagar Nari Road), Prashant Vasudev Dhole (Kapil Nagar Nari Road) were detained for questioning and then (3) Tushar Dilip Shimpi (Mhada Colony) 's house was raided and 2 toy species of parrots were seized While searching the house of accused Prashant Dhole at Kapilnagar, three turtles were found. The parrot and the turtle were seized for medical examination. A total of 7 parrots of Toi species and 2 turtles of Roof species (Schedule 1) were seized from the accused and a case was registered. A single tortoise costs around Rs 2,000 to Rs 3,000 and a tortoise costs between Rs 1,500 and Rs 3,000. Based on the interrogation of the accused, their residence was raided around midnight. Gangs selling wild parrots and turtles have already been cracked down on in the city.
 Even so, owning one is still beyond the reach of the average person. The seized parrots and turtles have been handed over to TTC Nagpur for medical examination and will soon be released in natural habitat.
