Gadkari's ministry's big decision regarding faulty vehicle manufacturing

New Delhi: Union Minister Nitin Gadkari's Ministry of Road Transport and Highways on Wednesday announced new rules on faulty vehicle manufacturing. If the central government directs auto companies to recall vehicles in cases of faulty vehicle manufacturing, the companies will have to pay a fine of up to Rs one crore. These new rules will come into force from April 1, 2021. The new rules issued by the ministry make it clear that if there are any defects in the vehicles, the company will have to recall them without giving any reason. PTI has given the news in this regard.
According to the rules issued by the ministry, the vehicle company will have to recall all the vehicles sold if there are more complaints than the number of vehicles sold on the company's portal made available for recall of a particular category of vehicles. These vehicles will have to be returned by the companies without any conditions.

According to the new rules, companies will be fined from Rs 10 lakh to Rs 1 crore depending on the number of vehicles recalled and the type of vehicles. According to the Central Motor Vehicle Act, this penalty is mentioned in the rules regarding inspection and recall of vehicles. If the auto companies do not recall the faulty vehicles on their own initiative, they will be penalized. At present, vehicle companies are not penalized for such recalls. The new rules will apply to vehicles purchased within seven years from the current date. The rules make it clear that a vehicle is considered to be defective if it violates road safety regulations due to a malfunction in vehicle parts or software.

The government is planning to create a portal for vehicle owners soon. Consumers will be able to lodge complaints through this portal, which will be a great relief to consumers regarding problems with faulty vehicles. Notices will be sent to the concerned companies on the basis of complaints lodged through this portal. Companies will be required to respond to this notice within 30 days. The Center has taken serious decisions regarding road traffic safety and many new rules are being framed. The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways is working to reduce the number of deaths in road accidents by 50 per cent. These new rules have been implemented in this regard.
