Heavy monsoon rains this year! Chief Minister gives good news to farmers
Mumbai, May 21, 2025: Good news for farmers regarding this year's monsoon! Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said in a press conference today that Maharashtra is likely to receive more than average rainfall this year. According to the India Meteorological Department's forecast, most parts of the state will receive 105 percent rainfall in monsoon 2025. He said that this will be of great benefit to the drought-hit areas of Marathwada and Vidarbha, especially.
"This year the rains will be good, and farmers will get the right conditions for their crops," the Chief Minister said. He urged farmers to start preparing for the Kharif season immediately. He also directed the Agriculture Department to take necessary measures for water management and seed distribution.
A similar forecast has been made in a Skymet report. This year, there is a possibility of 103 percent of the average rainfall between June and September. This is expected to boost the overall economy, including agriculture. However, a warning of heavy rain has been issued in some areas, and local administrations have been asked to be alert.
The Chief Minister, on this occasion, convinced the farmers of the importance of insurance and appealed them to take advantage of the crop insurance scheme. He expressed the hope that this year's monsoon will brighten the faces of the farmers.
