Mumbai, Dec 24: Heavy rains hit Konkan and 9 surrounding districts. 890 villages were built. 76 betrayed. 38 injured.59 people are missing. 25 units of NDRF and SDRF reached the spot. Relief work was started. The army was called. Helicopters began evacuating flood victims.
Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray left Mumbai for Mahad by helicopter and reached the accident-hit Taliyan village around 1.30 pm. This morning, he received information from the Relief and Rehabilitation Department about the flood situation and relief and rescue operations.

890 villages in Kolhapur, Raigad, Sangli, Satara, Ratnagiri, Mumbai Suburbs, Sindhudurg and Thane districts were hit by floods. Many villages were flooded
