Heavy rains hit 890 villages, killing 76

Mumbai, Dec 24: Heavy rains hit Konkan and 9 surrounding districts. 890 villages were built. 76 betrayed. 38 injured.59 people are missing. 25 units of NDRF and SDRF reached the spot. Relief work was started. The army was called. Helicopters began evacuating flood victims.
Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray left Mumbai for Mahad by helicopter and reached the accident-hit Taliyan village around 1.30 pm. This morning, he received information from the Relief and Rehabilitation Department about the flood situation and relief and rescue operations.
In affected districts
890 villages in Kolhapur, Raigad, Sangli, Satara, Ratnagiri, Mumbai Suburbs, Sindhudurg and Thane districts were hit by floods. Many villages were flooded
Moved to a safe place. Their number is over 90,000.
Relief camps opened.
The situation at Mahad
Due to heavy rains, the water of Savitri river rose and flooded Mahad and Poladpur
The bridge over the Savitri River was submerged, making it difficult for rescue teams to reach on time
Attempts were made by air to bring the NDRF personnel to the crash site but initially they could not land due to very bad weather, but later they started rescue operations and rescue centers were started at Mangaon.
Patients collapsed in 3 places

Fund of Rs. 2 crore
Rs 2 crore has been provided as emergency relief from the State Disaster Response Fund.
