Income tax department raids sugar factories and directors' houses related to Pawar

Pune: It is learned that the Income Tax Department is taking action against the Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar at the residence of the directors of the factories. It is learned that action is being taken against Daund Sugar, Amblik Sugar, Jarandeshwar Sugar, Pushpadanteshwar Sugar and Nandurbar. This action is being taken by the Income Tax Department from this morning. Income tax teams have reached some factories.

Ajit Pawar's close associates know that all these are sugar factories. The Income-tax department is taking action with the help of CRPF personnel without giving any preconceived notions to the state government's police system. Central agencies have been conducting raids since 7 am. It is learned that a team has entered the Jarandeshwar factory. Investigators have reached the house of Jangal Wagh, managing director of Ambalika Sugar Factory in Katawadi. Jungle Tigers live near Ajit Pawar's house in Katawadi.
Ajit Pawar's privately owned Ambalika factory in Ahmednagar district. Also, Dynamics Dairy in Baramati is being raided. Goenka belongs to the family of Sharad Pawar. It is known that all these organizations are related to Pawar.
Meanwhile, NCP leader and state minister Chhagan Bhujbal said that action was being taken against the sugar factories belonging to the leaders of the alliance, but no action was being taken against the BJP people.
Daund Sugars Pvt Ltd is a private sugar factory in Daund taluka of Pune district. NCP Zilla Parishad member Virdhawal Jagdale is the director of the factory. Income-tax officials said they had called him for questioning. But Ajit Pawar has claimed that he has no direct connection with this factory.
Already the co-operative sugar factories in the state are in trouble. The Income-tax department has recently issued notices to more than 60 co-operative sugar mills in the state to pay Rs 7,000 crore. The tax has been levied on the basis that the amount paid by these co-operative sugar mills to the farmers for the purchase of sugarcane is more than the fixed rate.
On the other hand, this formula has been included in the cost of sugarcane procurement without involving private factories. This decision of the Income Tax Department has hit the good efforts made on co-operative basis to benefit the farmers. NCP president Sharad Pawar has taken the issue to Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman.
