Internal strife in Solapur BJP: Entry of outside leaders increases discontent among workers

Solapur, October 21, 2025: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is currently caught in a major political storm in Solapur district. Four former MLAs of the district are preparing to join the BJP from the Congress and the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP). However, local workers and leaders in the party are very upset due to this entry. Senior BJP leader and former MLA Subhash Deshmukh has expressed his displeasure on this matter in clear words. He says, "Leaders coming from outside should work hard for the party for at least three-four years, only after that they should be given responsibility." This entry has created a rift in the party, and workers have warned of agitation.
The background to this incident is that political activities are going on rapidly in Solapur district with an eye on the upcoming local body elections. The BJP leadership is trying to strengthen the party for the Panchayat Samiti, Zilla Parishad and municipal elections. However, there is opposition to the entry of three other former MLAs, including former Congress MLA Dilip Mane. BJP workers recently staged a protest in direct opposition to Dilip Mane's entry. "We have been working day and night for the party for years, and outside leaders are coming with direct responsibilities," the workers feel.
Subhash Deshmukh commented on the matter in detail. He said, "Newcomers are welcome in the party. My role is that BJP should grow at the village, taluka, district, state and national levels. But while doing this, it is necessary to take everyone into confidence. The opinions of local leaders and workers should be taken into consideration. Those who are coming new should work for the party for at least three-four years. After that, there is no problem if the party gives them a role." Deshmukh further said that these new leaders are coming for the Panchayat Samiti and Zilla Parishad elections. "If BJP gets more seats in these elections tomorrow, they will form a big group. It is doubtful whether the current and former MLAs will come together and allow BJP to become the Zilla Parishad President or not."
Deshmukh raised another important issue. He said, "Even if you are elected on the BJP symbol, everything works as per the Election Commission rules. But we currently have six former MLAs in Solapur rural area. If more than 50 percent of the people leave tomorrow, the party is in big danger. So, take the newcomers on one condition: we do not want any partnership in this Zilla Parishad." Deshmukh said that many activists came to him to express their displeasure. "I told them that we have to accept the decision of the party leadership. But I myself do not go to any meeting. I only know as much information as I get from the media."
It is being said that the efforts of Solapur Guardian Minister Jayakumar Gore are behind this party entry. Gore has made special efforts to bring leaders from Congress and NCP to BJP. However, these efforts have hurt local BJP leaders and activists. "We should work hard for the parliamentary and MLA seats, and bring outside leaders for the local elections? Where should the activists go?" Activists are raising this question. This dissatisfaction has created a major rift in the party, and this may have an impact on the upcoming elections.
Although this entry into the party is important to strengthen the BJP's position in Solapur district, if the feelings of local workers are not considered, the party can suffer a big blow. The displeasure of senior leaders like Subhash Deshmukh is a warning to the party leadership. The party should find a solution to this immediately, otherwise the possibility of workers leaving the party cannot be ruled out.
There has been no reaction from senior party leaders on this matter yet. However, the political atmosphere in Solapur district is heated. Everyone's attention is on how this matter unfolds in the coming days. It will be successful only if the BJP succeeds in balancing the party expansion and the feelings of local workers, otherwise there is a possibility of internal strife.
