National ‘Florence Nightingale’ Award to two nurses from Maharashtra

New Delhi: President Ramnath Kovind on Wednesday conferred the National Florence Nightingale Award on nurses who are the backbone of the health sector. This includes two nurses from Maharashtra.

 
May 12 is Florence Nightingale's birthday, celebrated as International Nursing Day. The event could not take place on May 12 this year as the Corona epidemic has been raging since last year. The 2020 National ‘Florence Nightingale’ Awards Ceremony was held on Wednesday through the remote system. The award was presented by President Ramnath Kovind. On this occasion, Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare Mansukh Mandvia, Union Minister for State Health and Family Welfare Dr. Bharti Pawar was present.
Premlata Sanjay Patil is an Auxiliary Nurse Midwives (ANM) from Khurd sub-center in Jalgaon district. She has been working in the health service for the last 14 years. Mrs. Patil excels in counseling women. He has done a great job under the National Health Program, for which he has been honored with a National Award.
Shalini Najukrao Kumre, a nurse in the inpatient department at District General Hospital, Gadchiroli, was also honored with the national award. She has 35 years of experience in the nursing field. Mrs. Kumre does her job to the best of her ability. They manage the emergency life saving machine efficiently. In addition, they are doing well in the Naxal-affected areas. They also work in the field of organ donation, which is a very important part of the health sector.
The awards were presented in the year 2020 and a total of 51 nurses were honored with the national ‘Florence Nightingale’ award. Medals, testimonials and Rs 50,000 cash have been provided in the form of prizes. This award has been given since 1973.
