Newly appointed Sarpanch, Upasarpanch, Grampanchayat Sadasiana Minnar Village Development Training

MUMBAI: Nearly 14,000 Gram Panchayat elections have been held in the state recently and the elected Sarpanch, Deputy Sarpanch and Gram Panchayat members will be given training on various aspects related to rural development, said Rural Development Minister Hasan Mushrif. This is the first time that such a large number of Gram Panchayat elections have been held simultaneously in the state. As the number of members is high, the trainings will be conducted in phases and in the first phase, 77,500 people will be trained, Mushrif said.
The trainings will be conducted in various parts of the state through Yashada, Panchayat Raj Training Centers and Group Development Officers of Panchayat Samiti. In the first phase, training will be given to 77,500 people including newly appointed Sarpanch, Deputy Sarpanch and members. It will include 30,000 women members as well as 6,000 members from the PESA sector, Mushrif said.
Rural Development Minister Mushrif said that the village is the focal point of the country's development and the government intends to make the Gram Panchayats more capable. The funds of the Finance Commission are being given directly to the Gram Panchayats. The village is on its way to self-sufficiency through the Gram Panchayat Development Plan. Mushrif said that in order to be equally capable, the sarpanchs, sub-sarpanchs and gram panchayat members who lead the gram panchayats and drive the development of the village need to be given basic and appropriate knowledge, skills and perspectives on various subjects.
It has been decided to conduct special residential training under the National Gramswaraj Abhiyan for capacity building of newly appointed Sarpanches. The training will be conducted in various parts of the state through the State Rural Development Institute in Yashada. The training covers the responsibilities and duties of Sarpanch under Maharashtra Gram Panchayat Act, Gram Panchayat functions, Gram Panchayat Accounts Code, e-Panchayat, Water Literacy, Time Management, Village Organization Control for Sustainable Development, Government Goals, Various Rural Development Schemes etc. These training programs will enhance the basic knowledge and skills of the Sarpanch, Deputy Sarpanch and members so that they can work more efficiently, said Rural Development Minister Mushrif.
