Technology development in green energy sector will gain momentum - Nawab Malik

Mumbai: Startups in the field of clean and green energy in the state will be given a big boost. A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the Foreign Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) of the United Kingdom Government and the Maharashtra State Innovation Society in the presence of Nawab Malik, Minister for Skill Development, Employment and Entrepreneurship and Alan Gamel, British Deputy High Commissioner to West India.

 
The online event was attended by Manisha Verma, Principal Secretary, Department of Skill Development, Employment and Entrepreneurship, Dipendrasinh Kushwaha, Chief Executive Officer, Maharashtra State Innovation Society, and Mrs. Karen McLuskey, Deputy Director, FCDO.
Startups in the green energy sector are being promoted under the Act for Green program. This will include providing a platform for the development of selected 24 startups working in the green energy sector in the UK and India, providing global market opportunities to developed startups, providing them with opportunities to present to investors, and guiding them through incubation centers operating in the state. The joint efforts of FCDO and the State Innovation Society will provide special assistance to startups in this field.
Minister Malik said that green energy needs to be promoted in the context of environmental protection. This is being promoted under the Act for Green program. Many young people in the state are developing startups by bringing forward new concepts. Many are also working in the field of green energy. He expressed confidence that today's MoU would boost technological development in the field of green energy.
Gammel, the British Deputy High Commissioner, said the UK and India have a long history of friendship. The two countries are working together to tackle climate change. The reconciliation agreement reached today could move this work forward even faster. The UK and the state of Maharashtra will promote innovative concepts, research and startups in the green energy sector, he said.
