New Delhi: The Modi government at the Center has convened an all-party meeting to discuss the situation in Afghanistan. The meeting will be held on August 26 at 11 am. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has directed the Ministry of External Affairs to brief the leaders of political parties on the developments in Afghanistan, which has been taken over by the Taliban. Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar tweeted about it.

 
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi had a few days back questioned why the Prime Minister was not informing the opposition on the issue of Afghanistan. India has promised to help Hindus and Sikhs as well as Afghan nationals stranded in Afghanistan.
Other countries are repatriating their captives after the Taliban took over Afghanistan. At the same time, some Afghan nationals are being brought to the country for asylum. The Indian Air Force on Sunday evacuated a total of 168 people, including 107 Indians, from Kabul to India amid escalating tensions in Afghanistan.
Meanwhile, the Foreign Ministry estimates that 400 Indians are still stranded in Afghanistan. India has been allowed to operate two daily flights from Kabul to evacuate civilians stranded in Afghanistan. The Indian government has also decided to provide free corona, polio vaccine - OPV and FIPV vaccination to returnees from Afghanistan. People arriving at the Delhi International Airport from Afghanistan are being vaccinated, said Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandvia.
