The first training center in the country for the latest training of fire fighters is in Kandivali

Mumbai: The Mumbai Municipal Corporation's 'Mumbai Fire Brigade' is always ready for the safety of all Mumbaikars. The Mumbai Fire Brigade works with dedication to reach the spot of fire immediately and extinguish the fire, and to carry out rescue work in other situations. Along with the safety of Mumbaikars, the safety of the fire fighters is equally important. For this, it is necessary to provide the latest training to the soldiers for extinguishing the fire and self-defense using new technology. Keeping this in mind, an updated training center will be set up in Kandivali, informed Additional Municipal Commissioner Dr. Amit Saini.
Tributes are paid to the brave fire officers and soldiers who have died while serving in the Mumbai Fire Brigade of the Municipal Corporation on the occasion of 'National Fire Service Day'. This program was held at the Mumbai Fire Brigade headquarters in Byculla. At that time, Dr. Saini was speaking. Maharashtra Fire Service Director Santosh Warik, Municipal Corporation Deputy Commissioner Prashant Gaikwad, Mumbai Fire Service Chief Fire Officer Ravindra Ambulgekar, retired officers of the fire department and other dignitaries were present on the occasion.
Maharashtra Fire Service Director Santosh Warik said that the Mumbai Fire Department personnel are always working to face the challenges of high-rise buildings being built in Mumbai, narrow roads in densely populated areas, increasing population and other challenges. Warik mentioned that in addition to firefighting incidents, firefighters should also be given diverse training to perform rescue operations in low-lying areas due to flooding, building collapse and similar disasters due to heavy rains.
Deputy Commissioner Prashant Gaikwad said that emphasis is being placed on including modern systems in the Mumbai Fire Department to reach the fire site immediately and extinguish the fire. Efforts are underway to further empower the fire department with these sophisticated systems. The fire training center to be set up at Kandivali will be the first modern training center in the country from the point of view of modern training. Gaikwad also assured that all kinds of modern facilities will be provided in these centers.
Chief Fire Officer Ravindra Ambulgekar gave the introduction. On April 14, 1944, the ammunition depot of the boat 'S. S. Fort Stikine' caught fire in the Mumbai port. After that, 66 officers and men of the Mumbai Fire Department achieved heroism while controlling the terrible fire that broke out. Stating that 'National Fire Service Day' is observed across the country every year on April 14 to commemorate this incident, he also gave detailed information about the activities of the Mumbai Fire Department, firefighter programs, organization of Fire Service Week, etc.
