The largest women's football tournament in Asia is in Maharashtra - Sunil Kedar

Mumbai, dt. 29: The biggest AFC Women's Asia Cup 2022 in Asia has been organized in the state with the aim of boosting the game of football in Maharashtra.
            Sports and Youth Welfare Minister Sunil Kedar was speaking at a review meeting on preparations for the Asia AFC Women's Asia Cup 2022 at the Sahyadri Guest House. Minister for Tourism, Environment and Etiquette and President of Mumbai District Football Federation Aditya Thackeray, President of All India Football Federation and MP Praful Patel, State Sports Commissioner Omprakash Bakoria were present on the occasion.
            Sports Minister Kedar said the AFC Women's Asia Cup 2022 will promote sports culture in the state. The tournament has been organized in Mumbai, Navi Mumbai and Balewadi Pune in the state of Maharashtra with the objective of promoting football in the state and encouraging the players. The stadiums in Mumbai, Navi Mumbai and Pune are compliant on all parameters. Mr. Kedar also said that up-to-date pitches are available in the state for competition and practice.
            Tourism Minister Aditya Thackeray said various agencies would be notified to provide all the facilities required for the competition in the state. It will provide all the facilities like health, roads, transport system, security, accommodation in case of corona infection. If any stadium buildings need to be repaired, they should be done in time, Thackeray said.
            Praful Patel, president of the All India Football Federation, said the football tournament would be held from January 20, 2022 to February 6. For this, the state government should do proper planning. As the competition is world class, the corona should be prepared for the football fans to enjoy the game. The pitches should be prepared for training and practice, Patel said.
        
The matches will be played in Mumbai, Navi Mumbai and Balewadi in the state. The tournament is the largest women's football tournament in Asia and will feature a total of 12 teams. - Australia, Japan and China have already qualified. Other potential participants will include Korea and South Korea.
