The strength of the Congress increased, that of the BJP decreased

Congress won 9 seats, RAK won 2 seats and BJP won 3 seats
Nagpur, Dec 6: In the by-elections held for 16 seats of Nagpur Zilla Parishad and 31 seats of Panchayat Samiti, Mahavikas Aghadi won the highest number of seats. In Zilla Parishad, Congress won 9 seats, BJP won 3 seats, NCP won 2 seats, Shekompala won 1 seat and Gondwana Ganatantra Party won 1 seat. In Panchayat Samiti, Congress has 21, BJP has 6, RAK has 2 and others have 2. In this, the strength of BJP decreased. The strength of the Congress increased.
The Congress had made this election very prestigious. Minister Sunil Kedar was walking around the district with his feet tied during the election campaign. Anil Deshmukh's absence was difficult. The issue of OBCs was to the end. Voters made him a contender for victory because of the development done by the local leaders and their constituency. The biggest blow fell on the BJP. He lost the seat of Anil Nidhan, the strongest candidate in the Opposition. The NCP lost two seats. Sameer Ump of Shekap retained his seat. Pardasingh's NCP candidate Sharda Chandrasekhar Kolhe was replaced by BJP's Meenakshi Sandeep Sarode. Had Anil Deshmukh's campaign and presence been in this constituency, the NCP could have retained this seat. The BJP had high expectations. However, there is talk that the BJP has been hit as no senior BJP leader has returned to the district for campaigning.
