'African Safari' at Gorewada Zoological Museum in Nagpur -In the presence of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Forest Minister Ganesh Naik

Mumbai, July 1 – One can now experience 'African Safari' at the Balasaheb Thackeray Gorewada International Zoological Museum in Nagpur. In this regard, a memorandum of understanding was signed today between FDCM Gorewada Zoo Limited and National Building Construction Corporation (NBCC - India) in the presence of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Forest Minister Ganesh Naik.
The program was organized in the Samiti Auditorium of Vidhana Bhavan, in which NBCC President and Managing Director K.P.M. Swamy, Executive Director Praveen Doifode, Managing Director of Maharashtra Forest Development Corporation Naresh Zhurmure and Chief Executive Officer of FDCM Gorewada Zoo Limited Chandrasekaran Bala signed the MoU. Additional Chief Secretary Forest Department Milind Mhaiskar and Additional Chief Secretary to Chief Minister Vikas Kharge were also present on the occasion.
Chief Minister Shri Fadnavis had directed to start African Safari at Gorewada Zoological Museum. Accordingly, this safari and the plaza at the entrance will be developed.
Under this project, an African Safari will be developed on about 63 hectares of land of Gorewada Zoological Museum, which will include about 22 African species. Along with this, an entry plaza will also be constructed. The project is worth around ?285 crore and is targeted to be completed in 18 months. After the completion of the safari, Nagpur will emerge as a major animal tourism hub, promoting environmental awareness and biodiversity conservation.
Background of the Project:
The work of the Indian Safari in the Zoological Museum has already been completed and was inaugurated on 26 January 2021.
Now the African Safari will be prepared in the second phase.
This construction work will be carried out by NBCC, a national level organization.
