'Aspirational Taluka Programme' to be implemented for one year across 177 aspirational talukas in the state
Mumbai, 21st – Approval was granted at today's Cabinet meeting to implement the 'Aspirational Taluka Programme' on a pilot basis for the year 2026-27 across 177 aspirational talukas in the state. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis presided over the meeting.
NITI Aayog has launched the 'Aspirational District Programme' in 112 neglected and backward districts and the 'Aspirational Taluka Programme' in 500 underdeveloped talukas across the country. This includes 4 districts and 27 talukas from the state. The performance of these talukas is evaluated based on 39 indicators across sectors such as health and nutrition, education, agriculture and allied services, basic infrastructure, and social development; the Commission provides special funding for this purpose. On similar lines, Maharashtra has expanded the Aspirational District and Taluka Programme to foster balanced, comprehensive, and rapid development. Ten districts—Gadchiroli, Nandurbar, Dharashiv, Washim, Hingoli, Jalna, Palghar, Beed, Dhule, and Parbhani—comprising a total of 177 talukas, have been selected under this expanded programme. Approval has been granted to implement the Aspirational Taluka Programme in these 177 newly selected talukas for the year 2026-27. These talukas will receive a fund of ?5 crore for the year. Talukas demonstrating the best performance during this year will receive additional incentive funding in 2027-28. This funding will be awarded as prizes: ?10 crore for the first prize, ?8 crore for the second, ?6 crore for the third, ?4 crore for the fourth, and ?2 crore for the fifth prize. Additionally, an award will be presented based on the aggregate performance across all sectors. The first prize will be ?21 crore, the second prize ?15 crore, and the third prize ?11 crore.
Monitoring committees at the state, district, and taluka levels will be established to evaluate these talukas.

Government College of Horticulture at Katol, Nagpur
Approval was granted during today's cabinet meeting to establish a Government College of Horticulture at Katol in Nagpur district, affiliated with Dr. Panjabrao Deshmukh Krishi Vidyapeeth, Akola. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis presided over the meeting.
The cultivation area for fruits such as oranges, sweet limes (mosambi), mangoes, lemons, and guavas—as well as water-efficient crops like amla (Indian gooseberry) and sitaphal (custard apple)—is steadily increasing across the 11 districts of the Nagpur and Amravati divisions. Furthermore, given the diversity of fruit, vegetable, and floriculture production in Nagpur district, there is a need for a horticulture college. Since the college will offer courses covering fruits, vegetables, and flowers, as well as processing and value addition, it will boost related academic studies and research.
The college will admit 120 students annually. A total of 51 regular posts have been sanctioned for the college, comprising 29 teaching posts and 22 non-teaching posts. Additionally, approval has been granted to fill specific posts—teaching (Group A: 05) and non-teaching (Group C: 08 and Group D: 22)—on a contractual basis as required. A provision of ?122.32 crore has been approved to cover the necessary salaries and incidental expenses for these posts. --00--

**Three Hectares of Land in Mauje Sadumbre (Pune District) Allotted to NDRF**
Approval was granted during today's Cabinet meeting to allot three hectares of land to the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) at Mauje Sadumbre (Taluka Maval) in Pune district. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis presided over the meeting.
Earlier, approval had been given to allot three hectares of grazing land (*gayran*) at Mauje Sadumbre to the NDRF at market rates. However, the organization had requested that the land be provided free of cost, citing public interest and national importance. A permanent NDRF base will be established on this land, where task forces equipped to handle various types of disasters—along with facilities for comprehensive disaster management training—will be stationed. This will enable effective response measures during emergencies within the state. In view of this, and recognizing the NDRF as the country's unique dedicated civil force, the land will be allotted to the organization free of cost under the 'Occupant Class-II' tenure category.
