'Elder Brother' vs. 'Father' dispute in Gokul Milk Union election; Satej Patil gives a sharp retort
: Political 'Father-Brother' clash in Gokul election; Farmers are the true 'fathers', says Satej Patil
Kolhapur: The atmosphere surrounding the upcoming Gokul Milk Union election is heating up. Amidst the battle for seat-sharing and dominance within the *Mahayuti* (Grand Alliance), a new political controversy has erupted over the terms 'Elder Brother' (*Thorla Bhau*) and 'Father' (*Baap*).
NCP leader Hasan Mushrif asserted his status as the 'Elder Brother' within the alliance by submitting the highest number of resolutions. Meanwhile, BJP MP Dhananjay Mahadik claimed that the BJP is the actual 'Elder Brother'. A fierce contest for this 'elder brother' status is underway within the alliance.
On the other hand, former director Arun Dongale sparked a new controversy by referring to Vishwas Patil as the 'true father of Gokul'. There is speculation that both men—who have served as directors for over 30 years—are using such rhetoric to maintain their dominance. Dongale's statement triggered a wave of criticism.
Satej Patil's strong retort
Congress MLC and party group leader Satej Patil gave a blunt response to this controversy. He stated, "Milk-producing farmers and women play a major role in Gokul's progress. It is their hard work that has brought Gokul to prominence. Therefore, the milk-producing farmers themselves are the true 'fathers' of Gokul."
Acknowledging the late Chairman Anandrao Patil Chuyekar as the true architect, Satej Patil noted that Gokul has brought about an economic revolution in the lives of 5.5 lakh farmers. Dr. Yuvraj Yedure also echoed the sentiment, identifying the farmers as the true 'fathers'.
Background
Over the past few years, Vishwas Patil and Arun Dongale have maintained their dominance over Gokul's administration by forging alliances with various political parties. Now, against the backdrop of the Mahayuti alliance, attempts to re-establish their 'dominance' appear to be underway.
This dispute is causing resentment within the Mahayuti alliance. The conflict is likely to intensify as the process of submitting resolutions for the Gokul election gets underway.
