“Thackeray and Shinde will be seen together again,” claims senior leader; Shinde-led Sena makes serious allegation against BJP minister
Nashik/Mumbai, July 17, 2026: Maharashtra’s political landscape is once again abuzz with major speculation. Badnera MLA Ravi Rana has made a sensational claim that former Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray and Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde will be seen together again in the future. Meanwhile, a corporator from the Shinde-led Sena has leveled serious allegations regarding a multi-crore rupee scam in the Nashik Municipal Corporation, allegedly taking place with the blessings of BJP Minister Girish Mahajan.
Ravi Rana’s Claim
Speaking to the media, Ravi Rana, the MLA from Amravati’s Badnera constituency, stated, “In politics, even the seemingly impossible happens.” He also predicted the possibility of the two factions of the Nationalist Congress Party (led by Ajit Pawar and Sharad Pawar) reuniting within the next 15 days.
Rana said, “Uddhav Thackeray had opposed the recitation of the Hanuman Chalisa, which led to the fall of his government. Now, he himself is reciting the Ramraksha and Hanuman Chalisa. He is visiting Nagpur on July 18. He should pay his respects at the Hedgewar Memorial in Reshimbagh and recite the Hanuman Chalisa at the Bajrang Garhi in Amravati.” He further predicted that Thackeray and Shinde would be seen together in the coming months. This statement has sparked intense discussion within political circles.
Allegations of Scam in Nashik Municipal Corporation
On the other hand, Kiran Gamne-Darade, a corporator from the Shinde-led Sena, alleged during a Nashik Municipal Corporation Standing Committee meeting that a multi-crore rupee scam had occurred—with the blessings of Minister Girish Mahajan—regarding the TDR (Transferable Development Rights) for the Rajsarathi Society land in Indiranagar. She demanded a thorough investigation into the matter. The Chairperson has directed that an inquiry be conducted by the committee.
However, BJP corporators vehemently denied these allegations and demanded their immediate withdrawal, noting that Mahajan is the minister in charge of the Kumbh Mela. This matter has sparked intense political speculation in Nashik district.
Other Developments
Controversy over the 'Ramraksha' agitation: The Uddhav Thackeray faction has organized a 'Ramraksha' agitation in Nagpur on July 18. This has triggered a fierce war of words between the BJP and the Thackeray faction. Ministers Nitesh Rane and Chandrashekhar Bawankule have criticized the Thackeray faction.
Merger within NCP: MP Sunil Tatkare stated that discussions regarding the merger of the two factions were in the final stages before Ajit Pawar's move.
