“Why do girls have to raise such slogans?” – Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan’s message to society

Bhopal: Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has reacted strongly to a slogan raised during a protest by girls: “One *kachori*, two *samosas*—can these men be trusted?” Addressing men directly, he asked, “Why have our daughters been driven to the point where they must raise such slogans? This matter requires serious reflection.”
Speaking at the ‘Navgati’ education scholarship event in Bhopal on Saturday, Chouhan referred to this slogan, which has gone viral on social media. He remarked, “Why has a situation arisen today where our daughters feel compelled to chant slogans expressing a lack of trust in men? It is essential for society as a whole to think seriously about this.”
He further stated, “We must pledge to respect our sisters and daughters, ensure their safety, and protect their rights. A woman is like a mother, and a girl is like a goddess; honoring them is our responsibility.”
Other slogans circulating on social media alongside these include “One *jeera* (cumin), two *ajwain* (carom seeds)—men should resign” and “Heat up the cold tea; men, feel some shame.” These slogans gained traction following protests regarding women's safety in Delhi.
Shivraj Singh Chouhan has also urged men, boys, and their parents to engage in introspection.
