Gopal Shetty expressed his displeasure over the decision taken by the party regarding the candidate of Borivali assembly constituency. “Borivali is not a Dharamshala where an outsider will come and contest elections. Action should be taken against those spreading false information about us up to senior party leaders, even if he is a leader. I will follow the orders of the party. I have just received information that I will go among the workers, if they wish, I will continue the fight", said Gopal Shetty. “First Vinod Tawde was brought to Borivali, then given to Sunil Rane. Union Minister Piyush Goyal was given Lok Sabha ticket from North Mumbai. I worked for them, Borivali is not a Dharamshala”, Gopal Shetty has expressed a firm opinion.

Earlier, BJP had fielded Gopal Shetty's MP ticket in the Lok Sabha elections held six months ago. North Mumbai constituency is BJP's stronghold. Marathi and Gujarati voters are the most here.
