"Bengal is Being Cleaned Up by the New Government; Every Station Had Turned into a Marketplace" – Dilip Ghosh Claims
Kolkata: West Bengal Minister Dilip Ghosh has once again compared the state to Jammu and Kashmir. He stated, "We have repeatedly asserted that the situation in Bengal is even worse than that of Jammu and Kashmir. One must not forget that both the government and the culture have undergone a change."
Dilip Ghosh further added, "Harboring infiltrators was never a part of Bengal's culture. Mamata Banerjee has corrupted our culture, and we are now in the process of restoring it. We have not forgotten anything."
**Stations Had Turned into Marketplaces**
Minister Dilip Ghosh pointed out that not just Howrah Railway Station, but every single station across Bengal had been transformed into a marketplace. The level of congestion there was immense. There was absolutely no space for women, children, or the elderly to even sit down. Now, the Railways is reclaiming its property and utilizing it to provide services to the public. The Railways and the Bengal Police will extend their full cooperation to ensure this is achieved.
**Action Against Encroachments**
With the advent of the new government, the administration has begun taking strict measures. On the night of May 16, a massive drive to clear encroachments was carried out outside Howrah Station. Illegal shops, shanties, and pushcarts were demolished using bulldozers. Encroachments that had persisted for years along the Ganga Ghats, bus stands, and footpaths have now been cleared.
Dilip Ghosh clarified, "Bulldozers will roll across the entire country. Action will be taken wherever illegal construction exists. The new government initiated this process from day one. We appeal to those involved in illegal activities to operate within the framework of the law; the government will extend its cooperation to them. However, we will not tolerate any encroachment on government land."
This operation is being hailed as a significant step towards cleanliness and good governance in Bengal.
