"Betrayal will come at a heavy price!" – Only 4 MPs present, Sanjay Raut furious; confirmation of a split in Uddhav Thackeray's Shiv Sena
Only three MPs attended the Shiv Sena (UBT) meeting; Sanjay Raut issues a stern warning to the absent MPs.
New Delhi (June 18, 2026): A split within the Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray) party has been confirmed today. Only four individuals attended the meeting of MPs convened in Delhi. Party leader Sanjay Raut has issued a stern warning to the remaining six MPs who were absent.
Raut said, "This meeting was called by Lok Sabha leaders Arvind Sawant and Anil Desai. Only three Lok Sabha MPs were present. Members who did not attend will not be forgiven. This is an act of party indiscipline. Action against them has been initiated. They will be issued show-cause notices, and we will proceed towards seeking their disqualification."
Raut's stern warning:
"We call them traitors, disloyal, and deceivers. This time, the betrayal will come at a very heavy price. You are still party members. You contested the election under the party's name and symbol. Legal action will also be taken if the party whip is violated," Raut clarified.
Who was present at the meeting?
Sanjay Raut (Rajya Sabha MP)
Arvind Sawant
Anil Desai
Rajabhau Waje
Absent MPs:
Sanjay Patil, Sanjay Deshmukh, Nagesh Patil (Ashtikar), Omraje Nimbalkar, Bhausaheb Wakchaure, and Sanjay Jadhav.
What is the party's future?
Shiv Sena (UBT) has a total of 9 MPs in the Lok Sabha. A minimum of two-thirds of the MPs are required to form a separate faction. Currently, the situation indicates that three MPs are with the Uddhav Thackeray faction, while six MPs are in the rebel faction. However, as not a single rebel MP attended this meeting, it appears difficult for the breakaway faction to secure recognition.
This development has once again plunged Uddhav Thackeray's Shiv Sena into a crisis. Sanjay Raut has indicated that strict action will be taken against those who have rebelled against the party.
