Opposition MPs stopped and manhandled during peaceful protest; Rahul Gandhi accuses Modi, Shah, Bhagwat, and Gyanesh Kumar of treason
New Delhi: Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, has sharply criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He alleged that police stopped and manhandled MPs who were staging a peaceful protest. Rahul Gandhi stated that such actions would not go unpunished.
Rahul Gandhi mentioned that around 300 MPs from the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha wished to protest peacefully. On the first day, they were stopped near the Election Commission office. On the second day, they were prevented from going to Jantar Mantar, and their associates were manhandled.
Rahul Gandhi alleged that Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat, and Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar have "hijacked the country" through a criminal conspiracy. He accused them of destroying the Constitution and stealing votes. He assured that action would be taken regarding this matter and that the guilty would be punished.
Opposition MPs had attempted to march to the Election Commission and subsequently to Jantar Mantar to stage a protest. However, the Delhi Police stopped them and detained several MPs. Rahul Gandhi has termed this incident an assault on democracy.
