"Should 'childish behavior' be given importance or ignored?"; CM Fadnavis breaks silence on Amit Thackeray's actions
Mumbai: Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis today clearly stated his stance regarding the political controversy sparked by Amit Thackeray having a photograph of Prime Minister Narendra Modi removed at a college in Pune. This issue had created tension between the BJP and the MNS. State President Ravindra Chavan was also displeased due to the agitation launched by the Yuva Morcha. When asked about these developments, the Chief Minister described Amit Thackeray's actions as "childish" and "foolish behavior."
Chief Minister Fadnavis said, "The first point is, when someone acts with a childish mindset, we face the question of how much we should react to it. Should we give importance to such childishness or ignore it? We were in a dilemma regarding this."
He further mentioned that young party workers had expressed anger. However, mature leaders held the view that such childish actions only tarnish the person's own image and reveal their immaturity to the public. Therefore, one should not overreact, as the act was done solely for publicity.
Fadnavis said, "The next day, Navnath Banne shared a photo from the MNS office. It showed a portrait of Maharaj [Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj] placed in a setting and amidst people that should have caused them shame. But that is not the issue. The point is simply that we should not give them the publicity they crave by reacting. In my opinion, this behavior is utterly foolish. I will not say anything beyond that."
Following Amit Thackeray's action, Krishnaraj Mahadik had staged a protest, which had upset State President Ravindra Chavan. The Chief Minister was asked about the BJP's stance amidst this entire situation, to which he gave the clear response mentioned above.
