Uttarakhand:- 28 residents of Kerala missing in Dharil
A group of 28 tourists originally from Kerala has gone missing after a massive landslide caused by cloudburst in Uttarakhand. Family members gave this information on Wednesday. A relative of a couple in the group told media persons that out of these 28 people, 20 are from Kerala who have settled in Maharashtra, while the remaining eight are from various districts of Kerala. He told that the couple's son had last spoken to them a day before.
Efforts to rebuild the Bailey bridge going to Dharali intensified
The machines were to pass through this bridge for rescue to the disaster-affected Dharali village, but it was washed away last night. BRO is trying to repair the landslide zone behind and bring the Bailey bridge construction material here by this evening. It is expected that the construction of the Bailey bridge will be able to start tomorrow, only then the rescue operation will intensify.
Took stock of the damage caused by the disaster - Dhami
CM Dhami said that he reached Dharali (Uttarkashi) and took stock of the damage caused by the disaster and reviewed the ongoing rescue operation. During this, he met the local people, elderly women and the injured and inquired about their well-being. Gave necessary instructions to the officials for proper treatment of the injured. In this hour of crisis, the state government is standing with every affected family. To speed up the relief work, food and relief material has been transported to Dharali by two helicopters. Apart from this, heavy machines are also being sent to Dharali with the help of Chinook helicopter, so that relief work can be expedited. Officials have been instructed to restore the system of drinking water, electricity and communication in the affected areas as soon as possible.
Indian Air Force also started action
After the sudden flood in Harshil due to cloudburst in Uttarkashi, the Indian Air Force has started immediate action, due to which the valley has been isolated. Mi-17 and ALH Mk-III based in Bareilly are on high alert and An-32 and C-295 aircraft from Agra have reached Dehradun for missions in the affected areas. Air Force stations in Agra and Bareilly were activated at night itself to deliver relief and rescue material as well as to prepare the Indian Air Force and Indian Army for rescue operations. Although flights were limited due to dense fog and rain in the morning, the Indian Air Force is using this small opportunity of better visibility for civil-military joint operations to deal with this disaster.
Rescue team recovered the body of a local person
Relief and rescue work is going on rapidly in Harshil, Dharali. Disaster teams like police, army, ITBP, NDRF, SDRF, FIRE etc. are engaged in relief and rescue work in the affected area. So far, information has been received about the disappearance of 8 local people, 2 persons of Nepali origin and 9 army personnel, in which the body of a local person has been recovered by the rescue team. Due to road blockage near Gangani, District Magistrate Uttarkashi, Mr. Prashant Arya and Superintendent of Police Uttarkashi, Mrs. Sarita Dobal have left for Harshil, Dharali disaster affected area via helicopter from Bhatwadi helipad.
