8,500 suggestions on Yogi government's Hum Do Hamare Do Act!

LUCKNOW: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath last month announced a new population policy for the state. Accordingly, the rule of two children was announced in the state. The draft law was put on an open platform and public opinion and amendments were invited. Accordingly, considering these reforms, the Uttar Pradesh Law Commission has now sent the draft of the Uttar Pradesh Population (Control, Stability and Welfare) Bill to Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath for approval. All other provisions in this draft give priority to family planning.

The state's policy of reducing the birth rate has been fixed in the proposed bill. For this, measures will be taken to reduce the concessions available to couples with more than two children and to give more concessions to couples who decide not to have more than two children.
According to the proposed bill, parents with more than two children will be deprived of various facilities provided by the government and will not be able to contest local elections. Also, they will not be able to apply for government jobs or be eligible for any subsidy. These rules will come into force within a year after the ordinance is passed and if a couple has a third child before that, they will not be excluded from the benefits.
Couples who adopt a two-child policy will be given a subsidy when buying a house, as well as a low-interest loan to buy or build a home. Discounts will also be given on water bills, electricity bills, home bills and free health insurance for spouses.
Meanwhile, Sachin Sapna Tripathi of the commission, while talking to The Indian Express, said that suggestions on the law have come from all over India. Generally, more than 8,500 such suggestions have been received from all over the country with amendments or recommendations in this Act. This includes suggestions from judges and lawyers of the Supreme Court and high courts across the country. In 99.5 per cent of the suggestions, the Population Control Act was supported, Tripathi said.
According to the new population control policy in Uttar Pradesh, the birth rate is targeted to be 2.1 per cent by 2026. According to the National Family Health Survey, the birth rate in Uttar Pradesh is now 2.7 per cent. This figure is more than 2.2 per cent of the national birth rate. Attempts will be made to bring the birth rate to 1.9 per cent by 2030. Emphasis will be placed on family planning and health facilities. Health facilities will help reduce child mortality and maternal mortality. This will give impetus to the planning.
