90.68 percent households in Nagpur division connected to taps under 'Har Ghar Nal Se Jal'

Nagpur, Date 04: Quality Centrally Sponsored Jaljeev Mission is being implemented through individual tap connections to every family in the rural areas of the state. As per the objective of 'Har Ghar Nal Se Jal' set under this, 16 lakh 48 thousand 104 families have been provided tap connections in Nagpur division under the year 2024-25. While the work of providing tap connections to 58 thousand 246 households is in progress.
Under the Jaljeev Mission, drinking water will be supplied to every household through functional tap connections to provide drinking water security to every family in the rural areas of the state. Accordingly, a village, district and state action plan is prepared. Accordingly, the funds required for the planned household tap connections are planned quarterly and annually. For this, the help of the Rural Water Supply Department or Maharashtra Jeevan Authority is taken to prepare a village action plan. The government machinery is working effectively for the implementation of this scheme in Nagpur division as well. Divisional Commissioner Vijayalakshmi Bidri holds meetings from time to time to review the implementation of this program, collects information and makes suggestions.
Various types of schemes are included under the Jal Jeevan Mission. Such schemes are provided with functional household tap connections by re-connecting them in a corrective manner. Re-connection schemes are included according to the availability of drinking water at the village level. Under the Jal Jeevan Mission, Nagpur division has performed well and completed the work of connecting 90.68 percent of the households as per the target of ‘Har Ghar Nal Se Jal’. Out of a total of 18 lakh 17 thousand 590 households in six districts, 16 lakh 48 thousand 104 households have been provided with tap connections by the end of February 2025 and the work of connecting 58 thousand 246 households is on the progress path.
Towards this target, Wardha district has taken the lead in the division and completed 98.25 percent tap connections. Wardha district is performing well and out of 2 lakh 38 thousand 942 families, 2 lakh 34 thousand 754 families have been provided with water connections. While 1 thousand 989 water connections are in progress. Nagpur district has also taken the lead and completed 97.25 percent water connections. In Nagpur district, out of 3 lakh 76 thousand 864 families, 3 lakh 66 thousand 495 families have been provided with water connections and 1 thousand 916 water connections are in progress.
Bhandara district has provided water connections to 2 lakh 19 thousand 221 families out of 2 lakh 56 thousand 684 families. While the work of 9 thousand 465 water connections is in progress. Chandrapur district has provided water connections to 3 lakh 56 thousand 441 families out of 3 lakh 95 thousand 251 families. While the work of providing tap connections to 18 thousand 488 families is in progress.
The progress of Gadchiroli, a remote and Naxal-affected district, towards achieving the target of ‘Har Ghar Nal Se Jal’ is also noteworthy. Out of 2 lakh 42 thousand 119 families in this district, 2 lakh 21 thousand 837 families have been provided with water connections and 6 thousand 351 tap connections are on the way. Gondia district is progressing towards the target and out of 3 lakh 7 thousand 730 families, 2 lakh 49 thousand 356 families have been provided with tap connections and 20 thousand 37 tap connections are in progress.
