Gadchiroli: A comprehensive campaign has been launched to remove this pest from Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh and Naxal-affected districts. The combing operation by Chhattisgarh Police and CRPF is ongoing. There is a firefight between security forces and Naxalites in South Bastar district of Chhattisgarh and other places. An encounter broke out between 5 and 5:30 am today in a dense forest. In this, 12 Naxalites have been killed by security forces. Naxalites have also been caught on the Bijapur, Sukma-Telangana border. On the other hand, a comprehensive search operation has been launched for Naxalites in the border areas of Maharashtra and Andhra Pradesh.

In the past few years, the security forces have undertaken a comprehensive campaign to break the back of the anti-national Naxalite campaign. An aggressive stance has been taken against Naxalism through local police and intelligence agencies. The Naxal movement has suffered a major setback in the ongoing encounter. Initial information is coming out that a large cadre of Naxalites was killed in this encounter. The combing operation started from 1 am last night. The encounter continued till 5:30 am. It is coming out that the encounter is still going on.
A fierce Maoist Chalpati, who had a reward of Rs 1 crore, has been killed in a Chhattisgarh encounter. He was the chief of the State Committee of the Naxalite organization in Odisha. Chalpati had been involved in the Naxalite movement for almost 30 years.
Two women cadre Naxalites were also killed in this encounter. An SLR rifle, an ambush and ED explosives have been recovered from the spot. The operation has been successful with the help of Chhattisgarh Police, CRPF and interested police.
