Abhijit Dipke Takes Aggressive Stance at Shivaji Park Protest; Strongly Criticizes Fadnavis

Mumbai | October 2, 2026: The 'Cockroach Janata Party' (CJP) organized a 'Jail Bharo' (fill the jails) protest at Shivaji Park, Mumbai, demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. CJP founder Abhijit Dipke led the agitation.
During the protest, Dipke criticized the Central Government, the Election Commission, and Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. Referring to a statement made by Fadnavis regarding the protest, he remarked, "They spoke of putting us in jail for three days; had they said three months, the situation would have been different."
While criticizing Fadnavis's leadership, Dipke also made a sarcastic comment about his position of power. "One leg of your chair is stuck with Fevicol, while the other is glued with Fevistick," he said. He further asserted that the agitation would continue even if it meant going to jail.
**Issue of Permission for the Shivaji Park Protest**
Reports had emerged that the police denied permission after the CJP announced plans to protest at Shivaji Park. Despite this, Dipke remained determined to go ahead with the agitation. He questioned, "Ruling party leaders can hold rallies at Shivaji Park, so why shouldn't this venue be available for a protest?"
**Questions Raised Against the Election Commission**
The CJP has raised objections to the SIR (Special Intensive Revision) process regarding the electoral rolls. Dipke had previously demanded that elections be conducted based on the 2025 electoral rolls and that the SIR process be reconsidered.
Meanwhile, following the October 2nd protest, the CJP has announced plans to take the agitation nationwide and stage a protest at Jantar Mantar in Delhi towards the end of October. Heavy police security was deployed in the Shivaji Park area in view of the protest. A group of local residents had also expressed concern that the protest would disrupt the peace and daily activities in the area.
