Accused of showing anti-national content, 104 channels and 6 websites banned

new Delhi. The government said in the Rajya Sabha on Thursday that action has been taken under the IT Act against 104 YouTube channels as well as five Twitter accounts and six websites for running a campaign against the country and spreading confusion and fear in the society. Information and Broadcasting Minister Anurag Thakur gave this information in response to supplementary questions during the Question Hour in the Upper House.
He said that the Government of India has been taking action under the relevant sections of the IT Act in the matter of running a campaign against the country and spreading confusion and fear in the society. He said that so far action has been taken against 104 YouTube channels, 45 videos, four Facebook accounts and two posts, three Instagram and five Twitter accounts and six websites in such cases.
Two apps also banned
He said that along with this two apps have also been banned. Thakur said that in such cases the Government of India writes letters to the concerned forums and they take action. He said that the government has taken action in such cases and will continue to act further if required.
