Administration is Maharashtra's true backbone; political leaders should maintain good rapport with officials – Sharad Pawar
Pune: A capable administrative machinery plays a significant role in Maharashtra's development. The state's administration enjoys a positive reputation nationwide, and this constitutes Maharashtra's true strength, stated senior leader Sharad Pawar on Monday (the 17th).
The book *Aathvaninchi Onjal* (A Cupped-Handful of Memories), authored by former civil servant Shivajirao Deshmukh, was released by Union Minister Nitin Gadkari and Sharad Pawar at YASHADA. Pawar was speaking on this occasion. Also present were former Governor Shrinivas Patil, former Minister Shashikant Sutar, former Chief Secretaries Ajit Nimbalkar, Sumit Mullick, and Nitin Kareer, YASHADA Director General Suhas Divase, and Shivajirao Deshmukh.
"Political leadership may not necessarily possess complete knowledge of every subject. Therefore, one should maintain a good rapport with administrative officials. The administration's experience and knowledge should be utilized to resolve people's issues," he emphasized.
Pawar said, "When I became the Defence Minister, I didn't even know whether a Lieutenant ranked higher than a Colonel; I was unfamiliar with the ranks. Later, I visited Kolhapur and spent three days learning about the army's structure and border issues from General Thorat." Shekhar Gaikwad, Additional Director General of YASHADA, proposed the vote of thanks.
Transparency needed in administration: Gadkari
Union Minister Nitin Gadkari expressed the need for evaluating administrative work. He noted that while the government presents a financial balance sheet, the actual work performed must also be evaluated. He stated that transparency, the courage to make decisions, and a people-centric approach are essential in administration.
