After Rahul Gandhi, Rohit Pawar Visits Nagpur; Extends Support to Tribal Students' Hunger Strike and Issues Direct Warning to the Government

Nagpur: Following Rahul Gandhi's interaction program in Pune, Rohit Pawar—an MLA from the NCP (Sharad Pawar faction)—has visited the protest site of tribal students in Nagpur to extend his support.
Rohit Pawar arrived at the venue where the 'Vidarbha and Nagpur Tribal Students' Association' was conducting a hunger strike. He accepted a memorandum from the students and interacted with those present.
Speaking on the occasion, Rohit Pawar said, "I am closely monitoring the issues faced by tribal students, and I expect the government to take an appropriate decision regarding this during today's meeting. However, I have assured the students that if the government ignores the matter, I will join their struggle with full force."
MLA Sunil Bhusara, Ravikant Varpe, Duneshwar Pethe, NCP Tribal Cell State President Jaywant Wanole, Ravikant Bopche, and other students were present at the meeting.
What is the main demand?
The protesting students' primary demand is the immediate cancellation of the Government Resolution (GR) issued by the Tribal Development Department on August 5, 2026, regarding tribal hostels, as they deem it detrimental to student interests. It is alleged that the age limits and other regulations outlined in this GR are unfavorable to the students.
Rohit Pawar had previously visited a hunger strike protest in Manjari, Pune. Now, by supporting the agitation in Nagpur, he has issued a clear warning to the government.
