Anti-Child Labour Week on 14th November

Nagpur, 13th: According to the Constitution of India, education and health are fundamental rights of children. To ensure the rights of the child, the practice of child labour must be abolished. There is a provision of severe punishment against those who induce children below the age of 14 to engage in child labour. Child labour is an inhumane practice and is associated with social, cultural and economic problems, so to create widespread awareness against this practice in the society, the Anti-Child Labour Week will be celebrated on 14th November, the 'Children's Day'.
In line with the same, the Central Government has passed the Child and Adolescent Labour (Prohibition and Regulation) Act, 1986. According to the Act, it is an offence to employ children below the age of 14 in any occupation/process and to employ adolescents who have completed 14 years but not completed 18 years in hazardous industries and processes. If the owner/employer employs children or adolescents, he/she can be punished with imprisonment for a term of 6 months to 2 years or with a fine of Rs. 20 thousand to Rs. 50 thousand or with both.
All shops, establishment owners, entrepreneurs, construction employers, brick kilns and other establishment owners in Nagpur district should not employ child/adolescent workers. If child workers are found, they are urged to contact the office of this Additional Labour Commissioner.
