Approval for Pimpri Chinchwad to Nigdi Advanced Metro Project
Mumbai - Pimpri Chinchwad to Nigdi Corridor No. 1A advanced metro project was approved in the state cabinet meeting. Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray was in the chair. This additional route will be constructed by upgrading the Pimpri-Chinchwad to Swargate project. It will cost Rs 946.73 crore and will cost the state government Rs 170.03 crore.
The length of the project is 4.41 km. It has 3 stations. The project will be implemented through Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation's Special Carrying Purpose (SPV). For this, the central government contributes 10% of the total expenditure and funds will be raised in the form of loans. The total contribution of the state government will be Rs. 79 crore 4 lakhs and Rs. 90 crore 63 lakhs as secondary debt. The Nigdi to Swargate route is estimated to carry 4.95 lakh passengers daily in 2023.
