Black Marketing of Domestic Gas: 110 Cylinders Seized, 5 Cases Registered in Crackdown Operation

Nagpur, March 13:In an effort to curb the black marketing of domestic gas—which has emerged against the backdrop of a gas shortage—the Food and Civil Supplies Department has launched a massive crackdown operation. Divisional Commissioner Vijayalakshmi Bidari announced today that, under the guidance of the District Collectors, inspections were conducted at 163 gas distributors across all districts within the Nagpur division, resulting in the seizure of 110 gas cylinders.
Against the backdrop of the conflict in the Middle East, the District Administration has undertaken an intensive campaign to counter rumors regarding gas shortages within the state and to put an end to the black marketing of gas cylinders. This campaign is being effectively implemented across all districts of the Nagpur division by the respective District Collectors and officials from relevant departments. During the operation conducted today, inspections were carried out at 163 gas distributors and gas storage godowns throughout the division. Specifically, inspections covered 70 distributors in Gadchiroli district; 37 in Bhandara; 17 in Gondia; 19 under the Nagpur District Supply Officer's jurisdiction; 3 under the Food Grain Distribution Officer; 15 in Wardha; and surprise raids were conducted at two locations in Chandrapur district. As a result of these actions, 110 gas cylinders were seized, and goods worth a total of ?1,07,926 were confiscated.
Divisional Supply Commissioner Anil Bansod informed that five criminal cases have been registered in connection with this crackdown, and one individual has been arrested. Specifically, two cases were registered in Chandrapur district, one in Gondia district, and cases were filed against two individuals by the Nagpur District Supply Office.
**Do Not Believe in Rumors**
Divisional Commissioner Vijayalakshmi Bidari has appealed to citizens to avoid unnecessary crowding and to refrain from believing in rumors, emphasizing that there are adequate stocks of gas cylinders, as well as petrol and diesel, available throughout the division. He stated on this occasion that the District Collector, the district administration, the police administration, and the oil companies in the division are working jointly to ensure that the district's stock of petrol and diesel remains consistently available.
