Pune: Senior social worker Sindhutai Sapkal (74), who sacrificed her life for the holistic development of orphans and is known as the orphan's mother, died of a heart attack on Tuesday night. Due to the demise of Sindhutai, all those who supported her have expressed the feeling that she has become an orphan once again and mourning has spread all over Maharashtra. A large crowd had gathered to pay their last respects to Sindhutai.
My mother's body was brought to Sanmati Bal Niketan Sanstha in Manjari area of ??Hadapsar. After paying his last respects at this place, he was cremated at Thosarpaga Cemetery in a stately manner. Sindhutai was following the Mahanubhav sect, she was a devotee of Krishna. That is why Sindhutai Sapkal's body was cremated according to Mahanubhav method. His body was buried without cremation. Funerals performed in the Mahanubhav sect are called 'Nikshepa'.
Sindhutai was taking care of more than one and a half thousand orphans. Last year, Sindhutai Sapkal was awarded the Padma Shri. He was admitted to Galaxy Care Hospital in Pune a month and a half ago due to health problems. During this time he underwent hernia surgery. However, while undergoing treatment in the intensive care unit, Sindhutai suffered a heart attack and lost her life.
