Centre spent 36 thousand crores on Covid vaccines

- More than 220 crore doses of vaccine have been given till July 29
New Delhi. Union Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare Prataprao Jadhav said in the Lok Sabha that more than 220 crore doses of Covid-19 vaccine have been given across the country till July 29. He said that India has sent more than 3,012 lakh doses of Covid-19 vaccines to 99 countries and two United Nations organizations under the Vaccine Maitri program. At the same time, about Rs 36 thousand 398 crore has been spent on the purchase of Covid vaccines for free supply to the states and union territories.
Vaccines given to 99 countries and two United Nations organizations
Minister of State Prataprao Jadhav said that the allocation of vaccines to the states and union territories has been done on the basis of proportional target population, progress of vaccination there and wastage of vaccines. He said that the distribution of COVID vaccines within the states is managed by the state administration as per the requirement of the programme. The Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare said that India has sent a total of 3012.465 lakh doses of COVID-19 vaccines to 99 countries and two United Nations organisations under the 'Vaccine Maitri' programme.
