Chinese President Xi Jinping to Visit India After Seven Years; Delhi Trip for BRICS Summit, Meeting with Modi Likely
Delhi: Chinese President Xi Jinping is set to arrive in India on Saturday for the BRICS summit. This will be his first visit to India in seven years. Reports indicate that he will also meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi during this visit; the Chinese Foreign Ministry has confirmed this information.
The Chinese Foreign Ministry stated that, at the invitation of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Xi Jinping will participate in the 18th BRICS summit scheduled to be held in New Delhi on September 12 and 13.
Earlier, while speaking to the news agency AFP, the Foreign Ministry had stated that no official information regarding Xi Jinping's visit was available; however, his participation has now been confirmed.
