Corona re-emergence in India; 56 patients in Mumbai, alert to be careful

Mumbai, May 21, 2025:-The corona virus has once again raised its head in India. There are currently 257 active cases reported across the country, of which 56 have been found in Mumbai. The central government has issued a precautionary alert as the number of patients is also increasing in India after the new wave of corona in Singapore, Hong Kong and other Asian countries.
Situation in Mumbai
Two recent deaths have been reported at the King Edward Memorial (KEM) Hospital in Mumbai, in which the patients tested positive for corona. One of them was a 59-year-old man suffering from cancer, while the other was a 14-year-old girl suffering from other health problems. The Mumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) is currently on alert, advising citizens to wear masks and avoid crowded places.
Situation in the country
According to the Union Health Ministry, Kerala has reported the highest number of 69 new cases, followed by Maharashtra with 44 and Tamil Nadu with 34. Although the increase is mild, the health system has become alert and the new strain has raised concerns. Singapore reported more than 14,000 cases in the first week of May, which has also prompted an appeal for caution in India.
Precautionary measures
Use of masks: Appeal to make wearing masks mandatory in public places.
Keep hands clean: Wash hands frequently and use sanitizers.
Avoid crowds: Avoid unnecessary crowded places.
Watch for symptoms: Seek medical advice immediately if you experience symptoms like fever, cough, fatigue or sore throat.
Expert opinion
According to experts, the current situation is under control, but it is necessary to be cautious due to new variants. “People need not panic, but it is important to be cautious,” said state Health Minister Prakash Abitkar.
Appeal to citizens
Citizens of Mumbai have been advised to be especially vigilant. The BMC has kept 4,000 beds ready in Nair, KEM and Sion hospitals, and has also directed private hospitals to reserve 10 percent of their beds for Covid wards.
The threat of Corona has not been completely eliminated, so the health authorities have appealed to everyone to act responsibly and take care of themselves and the society.
