Corporation action, 8500 plastic kites confiscated

 Nagpur, Dt. Seized 8,100 kites behind Bengali Punjab railway crossing and recovered Rs 10,000 fine. The value of the seized kites is estimated at Rs 87,150. The operation was carried out by the zone search teams under the guidance of Veersen Tambe, head of the nuisance search team. This is the biggest action taken by the corporation against plastic kites so far.
The action was taken by the Municipal Corporation's nuisance search team in collaboration with the Pachpavli police after it was learned through secret informants that there was an illegal stock of banned plastic moths at Mohammad Khan's house behind the Bengali Punjab railway crossing in the Ashinagar zone under the Pachpavli police station.
Sono, head of the Ashinagar zone nuisance search team, and his team seized 8,100 plastic kites worth about Rs 87,150 from Mohammad Khan's house. As this was Mohammad Khan's second act, he was fined Rs 10,000 under the Maharashtra Plastic Bags Act 2006 and the Maharashtra Degradable and Non-Degradable Waste Act 2006. Also, the seized plastic kites were taken to Ashinagar zone of the corporation for further action.
