Corruption worth ?1,000 crore in the name of Maratha reservation? Complaint filed with ED against Manoj Jarange Patil and associates
Mumbai, September 10: Maratha activist Ajay Barskar has lodged a complaint with the Enforcement Directorate (ED), making serious allegations that Maratha reservation agitation leader Manoj Jarange Patil and his associates engaged in massive corruption under the guise of the reservation movement. Following the complaint, the ED summoned Barskar and gathered information and evidence.
Speaking to the media after leaving the ED office, Barskar stated, "Manoj Jarange Patil and his associates—Pandurang Tarak, Kishor Galande, Gangadhar Kalkute, Shriram Kurundkar, Sanjay Katare, Swapnil Tarak, Badrinath Tarak, and his brother-in-law Vilas Khedkar—have committed corruption worth crores of rupees in the name of Maratha community reservation. The corruption amounts to at least ?1,000 crore. Their primary business involves the sand mafia, and the ED has the authority to take action regarding the sand trade."
He mentioned that he had submitted the available evidence to the ED and demanded an investigation into several matters: the source of the 'Defender' vehicles, the funding for treatment at Lilavati Hospital, and how Pandurang Tarak acquired 50 acres of land. He also demanded that cases be registered against the individuals involved and that they be summoned for questioning.
Meanwhile, Gangadhar Kalkute, one of Jarange Patil's associates, denied these allegations. He said, “Let those who wish to name us do so; the truth will eventually come to light. We are fully prepared for an ED inquiry and will appear whenever summoned. Why fear if one has done nothing wrong? Be it an ED or CBI probe, brain mapping, or a narco test—conduct them all. If I am involved in the sand trade or any other illegal business, then push me off the Takmak Point. We are ready to face an inquiry even by international agencies. Baraskar should present whatever evidence he has before everyone.”
All eyes are now on whether the ED will take further action in light of this complaint.
