Create a time bound plan for Cancer Institute construction work - Amit Deshmukh

Mumbai, dt. 29 - The radiotherapy department of Government Medical College and Hospital, Nagpur is being upgraded and state-of-the-art cancer treatment facilities will be set up here. Therefore, the construction of Cancer Institute should be expedited, said Medical Education Minister Amit Deshmukh.
A review meeting on the work of Nagpur Cancer Hospital was held at the Ministry today under the chairmanship of Medical Education Minister Amit Deshmukh. The meeting was attended by Saurabh Vijay, Secretary, Department of Medical Education and Drugs, Virendra Singh, Commissioner, Medical Education, Dr. Dilip Mhaisekar, Director, Medical Education, Dr. Ajay Chandanwale, Joint Director, Prakash Survase, Deputy Secretary and others working for Nagpur Cancer Hospital.
 Deshmukh said that about Rs 76.10 crore has been sanctioned for the construction of the institute. While setting up the institute, the medical director should get information about the construction method and facilities. Information should also be given on the method of construction of machinery, facilities and manpower during construction. The Government Medical College and Cancer Hospital of Aurangabad has also enlisted the help of Tata Smriti Cancer Hospital for the construction of the Cancer Hospital.
A periodical plan for construction should be prepared including the period from tender process to completion of work. Deshmukh also said that since there is a need for peace in the hospital area, how to install sound proof system should be considered during the establishment of the institute.
